Description
Eriksö nature reserve is an old coastal small-scale farm landscape. The rift valley landscape is prominent with high mountain formations next to cropland and built up areas, as is the case at Harburen farm. There are natural grazing areas spread out all over the island. Especially the seashore meadows have high natural values. Oaks grow in the pastures and around the farmland. Many of the oaktrees are several hundred years old. In the northern as well as the southern parts of Eriksö, old natural coniferous forest dominates. The forests on the middle part of the island have been areas used for silviculture in latter years and are therefore dominated by younger trees – mostly spruce and deciduous trees. In all the forested areas there are many rock impediments and a lot of primary rock pine forest.
The juvenile flad Boviken, which is shared with the neighbouring Kålsö nature reserve, is an important brood-place for pikeperch. The quite rare spiny naiad grows in certain areas of the bottom vegetation in Boviken bay. Den rare stonewort Chara tomentosa can be found in the estuary of Boviken, near the bridge.

A road leads up to the reserve and there is a small parking area by the bridge. There is no public transport to the area.
