Description
In the Stora Envättern area grows very valuable nature-forest from a nature concervancy point of view. It harbours many plants and animals worth protecting that are typical for nature-forests. Several of them are red-listed. Stora Envättern is an oligotrophic and rather unaffected lake with high natural values. The lake is an intensive testing lake and is therefore very important for environmental monitoring.
Accessibility
The Stora Envättern area is beautiful and important for recreational purposes. There are roads to the area but locked barriers keep non-permitted traffic out.
The purpose of the reserve:
The purpose is to preserve and protect the Stora Envättern Lake and the surrounding forests and wetlands, and the protection requiring plant and animal life. Also to safeguard the area’s high recreational value as long as it doesn’t geopardise the preservation of the natural values.
Decree: The County Administrative Board, December 3, 1996.
The Swedish Government has also designated the reserve as a Natura 2000-area.
Acreage: 151 hectare of which 42 hectare is water.
Conservation manager: The County Administrative Board.
Restrictions for the public:
Besides regulations and prohibitions in laws and constitutions it is not allowed to:
- Destroy or damage mountain, rock, earth or stone by drilling, picking, blasting, carving, digging, painting or similar.
- Break twigs or branches, cut down or in other ways damage living or dead trees or bushes or to damage other vegetation by digging up twigs, herbs, grass, moss or lichens or to remove wood-living fungi.
- Disturb the wildlife (for example by climbing trees, capture or kill mammals, birds, reptiles or amphibians).
- Catch fish.
- Catch and collect invertebrates.
- Bring unleashed dog.
- Camp in a tent for more than two full days.
- Make fire in other places than those that are provided for this purpose.
- Put up a board, sign, poster or make an inscription.
- Ride a bicycle or drive a motorised vehicle on other roads than those that are intended for bicycle riding or driving.
The regulations shall not hinder samples and tests taken within the framework of the national environmental monitoring.
