Vackstaskogen naturreservat

Vackstaskogens naturreservat ligger vid Vackstaviken, Långsjöns sydvästra del, inom det föredetta militära övningsområdet Almnäs. Huvuddelen ligger inom Södertälje kommun men den västligaste delen går in i Nykvarns kommun.

Än så länge saknas iordninggjord parkeringsplats, informationstavlor och anläggningar för friluftsliv. 

Det finns dock flera grusvägar som går genom reservatet. Dessa har hårt underlag och ingen nämnvärd lutning. Du kan nå Långsjöns strand via en av dessa. 

Utöver föreskrifter och förbud i lagar och författningar är det förbjudet att:

• gräva, hacka, borra eller på annat sätt skada berg, jord eller sten
• bryta kvistar, fälla eller på annat sätt skada levande eller döda träd och buskar eller gräva upp växter
• tälta mer än två dygn i följd
• elda annat än på anvisad plats.

Syftet med reservatet skall vara att bevara ett värdefullt lövträdsområde med gammal grov asp och partier med ädellövträd, samt dess växt- och djurliv. Området ska vara tillgängligt för rekreation på ett sätt som inte äventyrar naturvärdena.

Vackstaskogen is located in the southwestern part of Lake Långsjön in an area that was previous used as a military drill-ground. Most of the area of the reserve is situated in the municipality of Södertälje apart from the westernmost parts which are included in the municipality of Nykvarn.

The majority of the reserve is constituted of deciduous forests of high conservation value with a high proportion of older aspen trees. The aspen provides suitable environments for polypores (wood living fungus), lichen and mosses and is also precious to woodpeckers. Parts of the nature reserve include broad-leaved deciduous forests such as pedunculate oak trees.  The long forest continuity in this area and old deciduous trees provides a biotope with high conservation value that is rapidly decreasing.

Accessibility

The nature reserve of Vackstaskogen can be reached by car from Södertälje or Nykvarn. Visitors can park along the entrance road to the nature reserve. Closest bus stop is located 2 kilometers away.

The purpose of the reserve

The purpose of the nature reserve is to preserve a deciduous forest of high conservation value and its associated flora and fauna. The forest includes old aspen trees and broad-leaved deciduous trees. Additional purposes include securing areas of high recreational values whilst conserving ecological and biological values.

Restrictions for the public

Besides regulations and prohibitions in laws and constitutions it is not allowed to:

• Destroy or damage permanent natural objects or configurations by drilling, picking, blasting, carving, painting or similar.
• Break twigs, cut down or in other ways damage living or dead trees or bushes or to damage other vegetation by digging up twigs, herbs, grass, moss or lichens.
• Make camp for longer time than two full days on the same location.
• Make fire in other places than those that are provided for this purpose.
