Description
From a nature concervancy point of view, the area is a very valuable bog that is hydrologically intact. The area around the water filled mines is valuable from a historical perspective. The surroundings are of great natural beauty and important for recreational purposes.
Accessibility
There is a road leading to the reserve. There is also a parking area and some information boards.
The purpose of the reserve
To preserve and protect Vattgruvsmossen with it’s surrounding forest, flora, fauna and historical environment. Moreover, the areas recreational value is to be safeguarded to a degree where it will not harm the natural- and historical values.
Decree: The County Administrative Board, December 3, 1996.
The Swedish Government has also designated Vattgruvsmossen as a Natura 2000-area.
Acreage: 74 hectare.
Conservation manager: The County Administrative Board.
Restrictions for the public
Besides regulations and prohibitions in laws and constitutions it is not allowed to:
- Destroy or damage mountain, rock, soil or stone by drilling, picking, blasting, carving, digging, painting or similar.
- Break twigs or branches, cut down or in other ways damage living or dead trees or bushes or to damage other vegetation by digging up twigs, herbs, grass, moss or lichens or to remove wood-living fungi.
- Disturb the wildlife (for example by climbing trees, capture or kill mammals, birds, reptiles or amphibians).
- Catch and collect invertebrates.
- Bring unleashed dog or other pet.
- Camp in a tent for more than two full days.
- Make fire in other places than those that are provided for this purpose.
- Put up a board, sign, poster or make an inscription.
- Drive a motorised vehicle in other areas than on the road.
